The City of North Vancouver Revitalization project is a $11.5 million major renovation to expand City Hall into the old library. The project includes confirming the current City Hall Revitalization space needs assessment and expansion concept design. The intention is to move this project to the production of a detailed building and site plan design, followed by construction. The main components of the city-endorsed plan include:
• Joining the old library and City Hall buildings with a central public foyer and roof capable of housing a relocated Council Chambers;
• Creating prominent new City Hall entrances on 14th Street and 13th Street;
• New central public lobby;
• Passenger drop off and short term parking area south of City Hall;
• Loading and service from the lane to the east;
• New department space to be opened on the lower floor of the old library;
• Meeting Room and flex space on the upper floor of the old library;
• Large meeting room and secure garden above the existing administration wing; and,
• A conceptual plan for the redevelopment of the Civic Centre that address the building deficiencies.
The City of North Vancouver has adopted a LEED standard of construction for all major building projects. It is anticipated that this project will be constructed to a minimum LEED Silver level; the certification of the project will be dependent upon budget considerations.
